Election Day

Psalm 89:14 (NIV):

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
    love and faithfulness go before you.

Today is Election Day. Many have expressed their thoughts and opinions. Here are my few thoughts:

  • Pray for revival for our country. In the surrounding counties alone, 85% of people are unchurched.
  • Pray for our leaders. Pray that our next president will pray as Solomon prayed:

 1 Kings 3:7-9 (NLT):

“Now, O Lord my God, you have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around. And here I am in the midst of your own chosen people, a nation so great and numerous they cannot be counted! Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”

  • I’ve heard it said something to the effect that, “If you are a Christian, you should vote for so and so.” I’ve learned that one should neither judge Christians for their vote, nor judge if someone is a Christian by their choice of candidate.
  • To me, for this election, party platforms are more important than the candidates.
  • Life matters.
  • The appointment of Supreme Court justices is an important decision.
  • Be an informed voter.
  • Regardless of the outcome, God is still in control! Colossians 1:17 (ESV) states:

17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

  • God’s throne is eternal, and in eternity He will rule justly and be worshiped as He is worthy!

Psalm 45:6 (NIV):

Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
    a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

Revelation 15:3-4 (NLT):

And they were singing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb:

“Great and marvelous are your works,
    O Lord God, the Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
    O King of the nations.
Who will not fear you, Lord,
    and glorify your name?
    For you alone are holy.
All nations will come and worship before you,
    for your righteous deeds have been revealed.”

  • Happy voting everyone!
