Proverbs 22:6 (ESV):
Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Having taught mathematics at the middle grade level or higher for over 25 years, I’ve always admired elementary school teachers and told them to pass the kids along to me when they get in middle school. I never thought I was especially gifted at teaching children elementary school aged; however, the Lord has a wonderful sense of humor! I’ve been blessed over the past year to work two beautiful Nepali children, Sneha and Salina, who are five and six years old respectively. Recently, I’ve also gotten to help out with the kids at church; I’m learning so much and consider it a privilege to have a part in teaching them about Jesus.
So, what’s the picture about you might ask? It’s from Salina’s school book, and the teacher’s name is Mrs. Smith. The characters from the books she reads to the class come to life and explode out of the books she reads. When the books are finished, the characters return to the pages of the book. I like Mrs. Smith because she loves her students! I also like Mrs. Smith because she has red glasses just like I purchased today in fact! Last, I really like her hair. So does Salina-she thinks I should get my hair done this way. Brad and Joni say, “I think not!” Kathy says, “Only if you wear the black leather jacket!” I think I’ll wear the leather jacket!
