Matthew 25: 37-40 (ESV)
37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Keevan is our friend. We haven’t met him yet. Odd, you might think? We learned who was Keevan was through a detective with the Charlotte police department. Keevan broke into our car Labor Day night as we were traveling back from Atlanta visiting Morgan and Kathy. We took Brad’s manual wheelchair, and we were tired, so we only carried in an overnight bag thinking our suitcases would be safe locked in the trunk. We were wrong.
I’m not telling you this story because we lost our things. I’m telling you this story because Keevan is 15 years old and is already in the penal system. Three days later, Keevan was arrested for another robbery and is now in prison in a juvenile detention center. He’s not likely to be released anytime soon. Keevan needs our prayers. More importantly, Keevan needs a relationship with Jesus Christ and the new start and life Christ has to offer. Will you join me in praying for Keevan?
